Renewable Energy

I once did a report on the problems with renewable energy here in the islands, specifically the wind turbines in Kahuku. I remember it had something to do with the sounds and noise that residents and schools can her in the distance, as well as the possible health effects that come with being so close to such a powerful generator of power. Birds and the native animals that could be affected from the massive source of energy was also of concern to the residents and the animal conservationists.

As of recent, my HWST class has been engrossed in the topic of renewable energy and the crisis that we have on our hands due to things like global warming. Wind turbines and solar were amongst the biggest contributors to being able to go fully abstinent from fossil fuel use. I definitely think that we need to step up our game when it comes to the use of sustainable energy, and that is why it is one of the bigger interests for me when it comes to talks about sustainability. I felt that we, America, are far behind other countries in terms of what we need to do to level out and balance out the damage we have already caused to the Earth. All this talk about sustainability in english class, and now in my HWST class, has really got me interested and wanting to learn and discuss more about the effects and the challenges that come with such a big project.
