Kaden Loa

When it comes to talking about time spent and resources spent within my community, the first person that automatically comes to mind is my good friend Kaden Loa. While there are a few more members in my “community”, he is one that truly stands out. Often times, I find myself giving him rides to places, especially to Walmart and Target, where we like to shop.

While superficial things like gas and money go towards him to take him places, one of the most valuable resources that I spend the most on him is my time. I often find myself staying the night at his house at least once a week, where we stay up and play video games and talk throughout the night. I also enjoy learning about different hobbies that he picked up as a kid, and he has definitely got me into some of his hobbies. We often go together to coach the Castle JV and Varsity football teams on Friday nights, so I spend around seven to eight hours with him on a weekly basis under those “Friday night lights”.

When we talk about relying on members in our community, I feel that any one of the members in my community would jump at the opportunity to help. Whether that be with a ride to someplace, a house to stay at for the night, or to have my back in an altercation, which is a scenario that seems to take place all too often. Kaden is one of those guys that I can genuinely always count on. He is a super playful, kid like guy, but when it comes down to business, you can always count on him. There have been a multitude of times where there have been people that find the need to start problems, and I have spoken to him about, and I know that on any given day, he has my back. When you think of the word protection, you think of guns and man-made weapons. Besides all that, I think of the willingness, the courage, and the heart to show up in support and to help protect the ones you care for and love. That is one of the reasons why Kaden automatically comes to mind when writing this post.

My extensive gratitude and gratefulness for Kaden is unmatched. That goes for everyone in my community, but in the recent months, I have found that I have grown closer and closer to Kaden and his family, and I could not be more grateful to have a brother-like figure in my life.
